Neverwinter Nights

Neverwinter Nights

I reeled out the original Neverwinter Nights PC game last night and started playing it again. I’ve always been a huge fan and have played it, and the two expansions (Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark) and premium modules, so many times I really couldn’t say how many. I’d been looking for something to play, and nothing new was striking me, so what the hell. It’s been a while.

And it’s still a great game! The interface is easy, the graphics are good, the story is plausible and its just fantastic fun. Of all the PC games I’ve ever owned, I have never got my moneys worth like I have with Neverwinter Nights.

When Neverwinter Nights 2 came out a while back, I couldn’t wait, expecting more of the same, so was seriously dissappointed when it turned out it was nothing like the first. It was a real memory hog and ran slow on my computer, the plot was labored and the dialogue was incredibly long winded and dull. I haven’t played it since then, so maybe I should give it another blast at some point? I dunno. I only lasted a few chapters before finally losing interest.

But the original Neverwinter Nights still retains my interest. Why couldn’t they just take what was great about it and make it even better? Why take out all the fun and replace it with endless dialogue scenes? Oh well, back to the game…
